Starting A Business!?
Ok, so, where did Your Party Box come from? Well, last year, I was asked by a girlfriend to plan a bachelorette party (whoop whoop!). I started looking for decorations - everywhere from Party City to Target to naughty stores to the dollar store. I couldn't find anything in one spot that I REALLY liked and ended up going to multiple places and spending more that what I would have liked to spend. (But, totally worth it, girl - what a great night!) And, I started thinking...what if everything I needed could just be shipped to my door, pinterest-worthy and easy to set up...and I haven't been able to stop thinking about it since!
Well, to my friends and family, they have heard me talk about all kinds of creative business ideas over the years. I have a Business/Entrepreneurship degree and I'm like that annoying person that always comes up with cool ideas but never has the guts to actually do it...But, I just couldn't stop thinking about my idea...COVID has given me the chance to be home with my family more and I will always and forever cherish that precious time. It also made me realize I want to open a business, not only because it has always been a dream of mine, but I hope to inspire my children to shoot for the stars. I hope that through this journey, I will not only be blessed with a successful business, but moreover, I hope it gives me the opportunity to spend more time with my family that I would have had otherwise and be a model to my children.
Soooooooo, I FINALLY built up the courage to go for it! I just quit my nursing job (like today, literally) to try to explore both my business and creative side AND am about to move our family of 5 to a more rural area by the river to make my dreams a reality! (BOTH AT THE SAME TIME - WHAT AM I THINKING!?!?)
As far as building up the guts....Well, I started by buying the domain name. A friend told me it needed to be fairly easy and to the point. One I decided on YourPartyBox.com, I looked at the domain price...which was a lot higher that I was expecting!!! But, I did it, spent that money, and after I spent that, I thought..."Well, this is it, I can't let that money go to waste! I'm gonna do this thing!!"
Originally I was going to have a friend build the website, but he suggested I try to do it myself...so here we are! Me, taking it one day at a time, learning how to build a website, find business space, create a studio design, order inventory, blog, pack up our current house of 3500 sq ft and downsize to a 1900 sq ft house AND take care of my incredible family at the same time! AHHHHHHHH! Again, what am I thinking!?!
Well, in fairness, my incredible husband, who is totally and completely supportive of me in every way has been taking care of the kids while I try to get this business up and running. I can't believe that I have been so blessed in my life! I can't wait to see where this journey takes me!
